Tetanus injection shortage leads to exorbitant black market prices in Karachi

Karachi is facing a severe shortage of tetanus injections Karachi leading to a black market trade, as a result of which patients are facing severe difficulties.

According to the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association (PCDA), the Tetanus ATS injection is extremely scarce in Karachi. The injection, which normally costs 50 rupees, is being sold at ten times that price on the black market.

The main reason for the scarcity and high cost of tetanus injections is that the raw materials are becoming very expensive in the global market, as per PCDA.

PCDA vice-chairman Abdul Samad Budhani has stated that some shopkeepers are selling tetanus injections on the black market as the normal price of this injection is Rs50 to 55.
