Shoes going missing after congregational prayers on Eid or Friday is hardly a newsworthy event. Unless it happens at one of the most important buildings in the country.
According to reports, shoes belonging to multiple worshippers were stolen from outside the Parliament House mosque after Friday prayers.
The shoes of more than a dozen people, journalists and staff of the National Assembly who came to offer Friday prayers in the mosque were stolen.
DG Media Zafar Sultan was also among the ones whose shoes could not be found after the prayers ended.
The worshippers had to return bare-feet and empty-handed after the prayers.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq took notice of the shoes stolen from outside the mosque in Parliament and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
He gave the responsibility for an inquiry into the matter to the NA’s sergeant at arms. Sadiq has ordered that the thief should be identified with the help of CCTV footage and ordered the sergeant to submit the report soon.
He also ordered an investigation into the staff’s alleged negligence in the matter.
Sources said that the officers were not present on their duty.
