Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar said on Friday that the government will reduce the health budget to pour more money into sports for the province.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Friday, Khokhar said he wants his ministry to be fully functional and to provide sports facilities to every child in the province.
He added that the province as currently allocating most funds for health while sports receive very little funds.
Khokhar added that the health budget in the province will be decreased in order to divert more funds for sports.
He claimed that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has already promised the provision of funds.
The minister said that sports complexes like the ones in Lahore will be set up across the province. He also said that traditional games will be promoted across Punjab.
Khokhar also announced that Olympian Arshad Nadeem will be given a new javelin by the government.
