The dollar fell by two paisas against the rupee in the interbank foreign exchange market on Friday. The foreign currency was being traded at Rs279.36 at the closing of the market.
The foreign currency closed at Rs279.38 in the interbank market on Thursday.
In the open market, the buying and selling rates of the dollar stood at Rs279.6 and Rs282.4, respectively.
On Thursday, Bloomberg News while citing a Pakistani official reported that the country plans to seek a new loan of at least $6 billion from the International Monetary Fund to help the incoming government repay billions in debt due this year.
The country will seek to negotiate an Extended Fund Facility with the IMF, the report said, adding that the talks with the global lender were expected to start in March or April.
