President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday said that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have not been able to exercise their right to self-determination as Pakistan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day, Radio Pakistan reported.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and Forces Chiefs resolved that Pakistan will continue to extend its unstinted moral, diplomatic, and political support for Kashmiris.

President Alvi said that the people of IIOJK have been struggling to realise their right to self-determination for the last 75 years. The region is one of the most militarised zones in the world, he added.

Following its illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, India’s efforts have been aimed at engineering demographic and political changes to transform Kashmiris into a disempowered community in their land.

PM Kakar paid rich tribute to sacrifices made by Kashmiris during the last 76 years.

He said relevant UN Security Council Resolutions have stated that the final disposition of Jammu and Kashmir will be made by the will of people of Kashmir expressed through democratic methods under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and Services Chiefs also paid tribute to the people of Kashmir for their resolve and valiant struggle, consistently braving grave human rights violations and inhumane lockdown in IIOJK.
