At least four labourers were injured after unidentified assailants opened fire near a police checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, Rescue officials said.
The rescue teams arrived at the scene and moved the injured to District Health Headquarters for treatment, they added.
According to the officials, the injured labourers were working in fields near the Garha Hayat police checkpost when they sustained bullet injuries.
In another instance, unidentified assailants opened fire on the District Education Officer of Lakki Marwat Ilyas’s vehicle near the Spogmai Hotel.
The officer escaped the attack without sustaining any injury as the police arrived at the spot and began investigations.
In December last year, at least five labourers were killed when unidentified men opened fire on them while they were sleeping in a tent in KP’s South Waziristan, an official said.
They were part of the team construction a police station in Wana’s Daza Ghundai area, which falls in the lower South Waziristan.
