New visuals have revealed disturbing details about Kyler Efinger, the man who was found dead inside a plane engine on New Year’s day in Salt Lake City.
Just before 10 pm on the first day of the new year, a store manager at the Salt Lake City International Airport reported a ‘disturbance involving a passenger on the secured side of the terminal.’
Rescue workers rushed on to the scene to find Efinger inside the engine of a plane. He was declared dead after some emergency measures failed to revive him. The engine of the plane was not on at the time.
However, new CCTV footage has shown that the man ran around the airport and tried to enter through a security door on his way to the plane.
After failing to get through the boarding gate, he tried to smash through a window by thrrowing his shoe at it.
Later he slammed through a door and made his way to a staircase that presumably led on to the tarmac.
Efinger was seen after this point through a thermal camera that showed a figure running towards a plane that was taxiing. However, in a curious twist, the clip does not show him getting on to the plane engine and ends abruptly.
The police has still not made a statement, but Efinger’s family told the media that he was going through a mental health crisis.
Efinger reportedly missed a flight to Denver, where he was headed to see his grandfather. After failing to make the flight, he entered what his father called a ‘manic phase’.
His shoes and clothing were found on the runway.
