Plan C? With no symbol available, PTI tries new strategy

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was deprived of its election symbol on Saturday after the Supreme Court ruled that it had not conducted intra-party elections as per its own constitution. The party has essentially been knocked out of the elections.

However, after the snub from the SC and after its plan B regarding PTI-Nazriyati fizzled out, PTI has come up with yet another strategy to organise its campaign.

In a video posted to X, PTI announed that it was setting up a database where everyone will be able to search the name of their constituency and will be shown who the PTI candidate there is and what symbol they are contesting on.

However, the party clarified that the website has not been made live yet as it is collecting data from across the country.

While the tool can come in handy to identify PTI-backed candidates who are all being allotted a variety of electoral symbols, it is too early to say if the strategy will work.

The party has already reported that many of its backed candidates have gone ‘missing’ and an online database could expose them to more dangers.

Furthermore, the strategy is likely to have middling success in a country where internet connectivity is limited.

Even in areas, where internet is available, it has often been slowed down in recent days often coinciding with PTI’s online events.
