At least 15 women were injured when an elevator of a factory collapsed in the Korangi area of Karachi on Friday.
The women were coming to the ground floor through the lift when it collapsed and fell from a height of 10ft from the ground.
The injured women sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
It was later reported that the victims were being discharged from hospital after the medical staff attended to their injuries.
Meanwhile, the family members of the injured women said that they were informed on the telephone that the women of their families sustained injuries in the accident.
Upon arriving, there was no official of the company at the spot to provide details regarding the incident and the whereabouts of the women involved in the accident.
Rajab Ali, a company official said that as many as 16 women were in the lift along with the operator. The cargo lift lost balance amid journey from eighth to ground floor and fell from a height of 10ft from the ground, he added.
According to Ali, the cause of the incident was a technical fault in the elevator.
He said that all injured have been shifted to a private hospital where three were being treated for injuries while others have been discharged.
