The Ministry of Religious Affairs completed the balloting for 2024’s Hajj applications on Thursday.
The balloting was held in Karachi Press Club in the presence of caretaker minister Aniq Ahmed.
A total of 69,438 people applied for Hajj and the names of 63,805 people were finalised after balloting.
The remaining 5,633 applicants have been put on a waiting list sorted by city. They will be granted a slot if any individuals in the balloting choose to cancel their applications.
All successful applicants will be notified tonight (Thursday) via SMS, website and mobile app.
The minister announced that 56% of the successful candidates were women while 44% were men. He added that the balloting had been completed through a transparent process.
Ahmed also announced that all women going for Hajj will be given an abaya with the Pakistan flag on it. ALl pilgrims willa lso be given a suitcase with a QR code on it as well as 7 GBs of data.
