Cold wave swept through Karachi on Monday as the temperature fell to 16°C in the city, however, the temperature felt like 14.5°C.
“The weather will remain cold and dry in most of the districts of the province,” the Pakistan Meteorological Department said in its daily forecast.
The minimum temperature in the city was expected to be 15°C with 50% humidity in the day. The wind speed was 11 kilometres per hour.
Cold winds started in the city on Sunday evening as rush was seen in the second hand clothes market of the city.
It merits here to mention that the city’s air quality level improved as it the 156 AQI was recorded in the city at 09:07am. But as per the AQI standards it was unhealthy.
Meanwhile, difference sections of motorways and highways were closed in Punjab due to smog. The Lahore-Islamabad motorway, Faizpur to Darkhana section of M-3, and Sher Shah to Shamkot section of M-4 were closed.
The motorway police advised drivers to avoid unnecessary travelling.
Lahore was ranked fourth in the air quality index with 205 AQI. The air quality level in the city improved after the first ever artificial rain was used in the city to fight smog.
