The foreign office on Saturday showed disappointment over the UN Security Council’s failure to call for a ceasefire in Gaza as it faces a human tragedy.
“The collective punishment endured by the besieged people of Gaza is unprecedented and unacceptable,” the spokesperson for the foreign office said in a statement.
A heavy responsibility rested on all who have contributed to the prolongation of the uninterrupted bombing of the people of Gaza, the FO spokesperson added.
The United States vetoed a UN Security Council demand for an immediate ceasefire as fighting escalated and the Palestinian death toll rose on Friday.
Despite the invocation of Article-99 of the UN Charter by the secretary general and his warnings of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, the UNSC has failed to perform its primary responsibility to maintain international peace and security, the foreign office stated.
Reiterating its call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, Pakistan demanded Israel end its attacks and siege against Gaza.

“We urge the UN Security Council to act now, end this inhuman war and protect the people of Gaza from an impending genocide,” the FO spokesperson said.
The continuation of Israel’s campaign in occupied Palestine would prolong human suffering, the spokesperson added.
