The Federal Board of Revenue completed its talks with a technical team of the International Monetary Fund on Thursday.
Sources said that the IMF team is now preparing a report on its talks with its FBR which will include policy recommendations for the government.
The report is expected to be presented to interim Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar soon.
According to the sources, FBR has shared its plans to broaden the tax net, enlarge the tax base and finding ways to clamp down on non-filers.
Earlier reports had indicated that the recommendations that result from the meetings could be incorporated into next year’s budgets.
However, sources within the finance ministry had also claimed that the talks are not linked to the stand-by arrrangement with the IMF.
