Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has announced that Arts Council President Ahmed Shah would be made a provincial minister as the Aalmi Urdu Conference started in Karachi.
“Literature has the power to change society. The nations who showed persistence on literature are called civilized,” the interim Sindh CM said while addressing the participants of the four-day conference.
Baqar added that it was an honor for him to be present among the scholars and literature.
“The Aalmi Urdu Conference organised for the last 16 years is a global brand,” the chief minister said as he praised the event organisers for bringing thinkers and scholars to one place.
Delegates from the United States and Europe have arrived at the event. More than 50 sessions would be organised at the event.
When asked about the announcement, Shah said: “I have also heard that and he told me that a notification has been issued and appointed me as a minister. Thank you.”
The ACP president vowed to work in the same spirit in whatever department he was assigned, however, the Arts Council would be working in the same.
