The Pakistan-China border at Khunjerab pass will be closed on November 30.
Under the Border Protocol Agreement, the border is closed each year from December 1 to March 31 and is opened from April 1 to November 30.
The Khunjerab pass is situated over 15,000 feet above sea level and the high altitude of the border necessitates closure in the winter months due to cold temperatures and lack of oxygen.
However, temporary openings in the the border can also take place in case of emergencies.
The pass connects Gilgit-Baltistan to Xinjiang Uygur, an autonomous region in China.
In April this year, the border was opened for the first time in three years after the covid-19 pandemic.
