President Arif Alvi has given approval to conferment of Pakistan’s highest civil award ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ on the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.
In a statement, the President’s House said that Dr Saifuddin is the 53rd Da’i al-Mutlaq and head of Dawoodi Bohra community.
The president approved the conferment of the civil award under Article 259 (2) of the Constitution, which pertains to awarding civil awards, and the Decorations Act 1975.
Dr Saifuddin, along with his family members, arrived in Karachi on November 20.
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar received the head of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community at Old Terminal in Karachi. Former Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwala, and members of the Bohra community were also at the airport to receive Syedna Mufaddal.
He arrived at the provincial capital of Sindh upon the invitation of the government and the community members.
Dr Saifuddin thanked caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Bagar and others for the heartfelt welcome he received upon his arrival.
