Swat’s district commissioner allegedly took a bed from a government-owned hospital to his home for use by his ailing mother, news reports said on Tuesday.
The removal of the hospital bed put additional strain on the hospital’s already meager sources, to the detriment of patients who mostly come from poor backgrounds.
Hospital sources said that the bed is worth Rs900,000.
For his part, the DC has denied that he took the bed to his house, adding that he does not need to take a bed from a government hospital.
However, he said that if someone’s mother was ill and a bed was moved, it was not an important matter to be reported in the news.
