The rupee declined further on Tuesday in the interbank foreign exchange market as demand remained high for the demand, dealers said.
The greenback strengthened by Rs1.1 to reach Rs286.39 at the closing of the market, as against the closing of Rs285.29 the previous day.
In the open market, the foreign currency was trading at Rs287.5 on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed on a negative note after crossing 54,000 levels during the intraday trading.
The benchmark KDE-100 Index shed 124.63 points or 0.23% to reach 53,735.73 levels at the closing of the trading session.
The KSE-30 Index was almost flat as it shed 7.69 points to close at 17,990.08 levels.
