Indian father brings daughter back in joyful procession after divorce

Indian father has broken the stereotype and welcomed her divorced daughter with bands and music procession.

It’s unconventional in a society where a ‘Baraat’ is usually a traditional event in South Asia to send the bride with her groom to her in-law’s house in a procession with lots of music, dancing and firecrackers.

But this Indian father in Jharkhand, identified as Prem Gupta has put the norms of society aside when he had reached his in-laws’ place to bring back his daughter Sakshi, Who tied the knot last April, with Sachin Kumar, an assistant engineer working at Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited.

However, a few days into the marriage, Sakshi found out her husband had already married twice. She was being harassed by her husband as well and he would throw her out of the house.

India media quoted Gupta that the in-laws and Kumar had agreed to give alimony in the divorce case, where they would essentially return the Rs17 lakh that Gupta had given to the in-laws at the time of his daughter’s marriage

He added: “As of now we have not decided anything but if my daughter wants to start a new life with a new life partner then we will be more than happy.”

Sakshi expressed happiness at having supportive parents, while many on social media have lauded the father’s actions.
