All-Pakistan Milk Retailers Welfare Association has announced that it will stop selling milk from Monday unless prices are increased.
Association President Hafiz Muhammad Nisar said that they were giving a 72-hour ultimatum to the government as they cannot buy expensive milk from dairy farms and sell it on cheaper rates in the market.
Nisar added that retailers were getting milk from farms at Rs214 to Rs218 per kilogram and they should get a profit margin of atleast Rs20.
The administration has set the price of milk at Rs180 but retailers are charging their own rates.
Milk is being sold for as much as Rs220 per litre in different parts of Karachi.
