The Election Commission of Pakistan will hold a meeting on Monday (today) for the delimitation of constituencies in accordance with new statistics obtained after the digital census. The ECP would also form teams for creating new boundaries.
Officials would gather in Islamabad for the delimitation of constituencies under Article 51 (National Assembly) of the Constitution and Section 17(2), which says the Commission shall delimit constituencies after every census officially published, of the Election Act, 2017.
According to an August 17 notification, the committees will receive districts’ maps and necessary data from the federal capital and provinces until August 31.
In the third step, from September 1 the commission will begin the four days of training of the team while the delimitation of constituencies will be completed from September 7 to 8.
The ECP will issue the details of the delimitation of constituencies on October 9 after that it will receive the applications related to objections and recommendations which would be heard by the commission between October 10 to December 9.
However, the schedule issued by the commission stated that the process will be completed by December 14.
