The Human Rights Commission has sounded alarm over reports of sectarian violence in Kurram, adding that nine deaths have been reported.
HRCP also added that the incident of violence has affecting the freedom of movement for the Shia community.
The commission has also said that there are reports of militancy, which has been growing in the area, feeding into conflicts that were orignally local in nature.
It also called upon the government to make sure law and order is restored in the area and all conflicts are resolved without violence.
The HRCP also said that the government had ‘pledged’ to mainstream the areas formerly called FATA and this included ensuring the right of citizens to life and security.
The statement added that despite the allocation of funds, the promise of proper mainstreaming remains unfulfilled.
The areas called FATA were merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enable development and progress to reach areas historically cut off from the rest of the country.
