A Peoples Bus collided with a car on Shahrea Faisal in Karachi on Friday, eyewitnesses said. The accident was reported to be occurred due to slippery road, which got wet after many parts of the city received rain.
There was no loss of life in the accident.
The Sindh government launched the intra-district Peoples Bus Service project for Karachi on June 27, 2022. Under the project, around 240 air-conditioned buses imported from China would be plied on seven routes in the metropolis. It is a project separate from the network of Bus Rapid Transit lines.
Earlier in February, one of the buses of the Karachi Green Line bus rapid transit system ran over a curb and hit the railing near Nagan Chowrangi. A few people had sustained minor injuries.
The seven routes of Peoples Bus include the areas from Model Colony to Tower 29.5km; North Karachi to Indus Hospital (Korangi) 32.9km; Nagan Chowrangi to Singer Chowrangi (Korangi Industrial Area) 33km; North Karachi to Dockyard 30.4km; Surjani Town to PAF Masroor 28.2km; Gulshan-i-Bihar (Orangi Town) to Singer Chowrangi 29km and Mosamiyat to Baldia Town 28.9km.
The Sindh government has allocated a sum of Rs4 billion in its budget for the next financial year 2022-23 for procuring more buses to be run in Karachi under the same project.
