Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Hammad Azhar announced that his father, former Punjab Governor Mian Azhar, returned home in the early hours of Monday.
“He’s back alhamdolilah,” he wrote on Twitter.
He added that his father had been taken to the Crime Investigation Agency Police Station in Lahore where his phone was checked for one hour.
Hammad had earlier tweeted that his father had been ‘taken’ by police from their house on midnight on Tuesday to an undisclosed location.
He had also said that his father was 82 years old with multiple health conditions.
Hammad is one of the few PTI leaders who have avoided arrest during the recent crackdown on PTI workers and leaders across the country. He has already claimed that his father had been ‘threatened that his daughters will also be picked up’.
Multiple PTI leaders have been arrested and have announced parting ways with the party. Some have even announced that will leave politics completely.
