Most of the rioters who attacked the Lahore Corps Commander’s house and other Army installations during PTI protests have been identified by law enforcement agencies as the probe continues.
Apart from that, people who damaged public property in other parts of the country are also coming under the grip of the law, Aaj News reported on Saturday.
Most of the rioters who attacked Jinnah House Lahore have been identified, sources said.
They were identified as Danish Munir, Saud, Adnan Ashraf, Farooq Zaman Ali Hassan Abbas, Chaudhry Masood Meraj, Mohammad Taimur Jafar Ali Iftikhar, Amir Hamza, Waqas Pervaiz, Sajjad Saeed, Yousaf Gulzar, Mohammad Arsalan, and Ali Raza.
Moreover, the process of identifying others is underway.
Meanwhile, cases have been lodged against miscreants under Anti-Terrorism Act. They were said to be armed with firearms, sticks, stones, and petrol bombs.
It is worth mentioning here that angry protests against the arrest of Imran Khan in a NAB reference reached cantts and even the GHQ in Rawalpindi, one of the main events of the protest was the alleged ransacking of the Lahore corp commander’s residence.
Due to the stifling of internet services and a clampdown on social media across the country, details only began to emerge about the full scale of the event a day later.
AFP reported that several thousand of his supporters have rampaged through cities in protest of Khan’s detention since Tuesday, setting fire to buildings, blocking roads and clashing with police outside military installations.
At least nine people died in the unrest, police and hospitals said.
Hundreds of police officers were injured and more than 4,000 people detained, mostly in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, according to authorities.
Faisal Hussain Chaudhry, a lawyer for Khan, said on Friday that 10 senior PTI leaders had been arrested.The interior minister has vowed to re-arrest Khan, who remains wildly popular ahead of elections due in October.
