SHO Aamir Shehzad, who was involved in the investigation into the attempt on Imran Khan’s life in Wazirabad last November, died of a heart attack on Sunday.
The policeman was rushed to the hospital after complaining of pain but died on the way.
Shehzad was serving as SHO Wazirabad City, the policestation in whose jurisdiction the assassination attempt took place, at the time of the attack. He was also the complainant in the case file for investigation into the attempt.
Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had accused Shehzad of using delaying tactics in filing of the FIR into the incident.
Investigations into the incident on November 3, when Imran was injured by gunshots at a political rally, have still not been concluded. Police had arrested a man named Naveed who had told them that he had religious motivations to kill Imran Khan. He is still in custody.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan has blamed senior government and army officials for being behind the plot and has described Naveed’s version as faulty and accused the whole investigation of being pressured by the government.
