HYDERABAD: A 16-year-old girl was found covered in blood on Gulistan-e-Sarmast road on Monday night. The girl’s cheeks had been slashed open with a knife.

The victim was found on a road within Hyderabad airport police station limits. Hyderabad airport police station SHO, Aziz Saithro, said that a passersby found the victim and filmed her bleeding profusely and naming two attackers.

Police took her to Bhittai Government Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim has been identified as Iqra Khadam.

Iqra’s uncle registered a case. The FIR states that Iqra had left her house to go shopping at around 6pm on Monday evening. The FIR includes provisions for attempted murder and rape.

The Hyderabad police claimed that they have arrested a young man allegedly involved in the attack. The suspect, Ghayur Abbas Kaliar, was arrested from Wahdat Colony and is one of the attackers Iqra has named.

Iqra was a resident of Old Wahdat Colony and was pursuing a beautician course at a center in Qasimabad. Iqra’s father is a taxi driver and she was the only sister of two brothers.
