Two Pakistani movies – ‘Noor’ and ‘Pehchaan’ – have been nominated for the Cannes World Film Festival.
The nomination list was announced on Cannes’ official Instagram handle, revealing that some categories have direct winners.
Pehchaan, by Mohammad Ahsan, has been also been shortlisted for the Best Human Rights Film Award.
Meanwhile, Umer Adil, who produced Noor, described it as a “heartfelt narrative” that sheds light on the struggles faced by many due to cultural myths and taboos, especially children who silently suffer the most.
The film, which features Sarwat Gilani, Omair Rana, Tanisha Shameem, Mizna Waqas, and Tasneem Ansari in significant roles, has been written by Farah Usman.
