Police have still not been able to apprehend the men who allegedly raped a woman at gunpoint in Islamabad’s F-9 Park, despite three days having passed since the incident.
According to the FIR registered on February 2 in Islamabad’s Margalla police station, the alleged victim was in the park with her friend when they were forced into the nearby woods at gunpoint by two men. There she was separated from her friend, beaten and sexually assaulted by the culprits.
A medical examination has been conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and samples sent for a forensic analysis, whose results are still awaited.
Police is using Safe City resources to track down the alleged rapists. CCTV footage from all four gates of the park is being analysed and guards from all four gates have also been questioned. Park officials and people present in the park are also being questioned.
The police has also planned to question the friend accompanying the woman at the time of the incident. A special investigation officer has been appointed to investigate the case, and the police say they are ‘hopeful’ of catching the culprits soon.
The woman has been identified as a 24-year-old resident of Mian Channu, who works in the real estate sector.
