Head Constable Younas of Karak was killed in the Police Line mosque bomb blast on Monday was laid to rest in Ghundi Shehbaz Khan on Wednesday.
“Karak’s soil has given up many sons, whether in the army, FC or police,” said Karak Tehsil Chairman Azmat Khattak who attended the funeral prayers. “You will see this green flag in every graveyard.”
Younas’s brother in the scouts was martyred two years earlier, making this the second loss of the family. Younas leaves behind four children.
One hundred people, mostly policemen, were martyred in what is suspected as a suicide bomb attack on Monday in Peshawar’s Police Lines mosque. This was the second most deadly attack in a year, prompting questions as to why the Taliban had been allowed to regroup in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Junior police officers are said to have wanted to resign en masse over the state’s failure to follow anti-terrorism policies.
