Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the caretaker sports minister of Punjab in the caretaker setup.
Governor Baligh Ur Rehman administered the oath of new Punjab cabinet members at the Governor House in Lahore.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the appointment as part of an 11-person caretaker cabinet following the dissolution of the provincial assembly, which marked the end of Pervez Elahi’s six-month-long tenure as the Punjab CM.
Other members include: Bilal Afzal, SM Tanveer, Dr. Javed Akram, Ibrahim Murad, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Mansoor Qadir, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir and Amir Mir — took the oath, while three others — Wahab Riaz, Tamkinat Karim and Naseem Sadiq — were not present at the ceremony.
The 37-year-old is currently playing for Khulna Tigers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023.
The left-arm bowler has taken 237 wickets for Pakistan in 156 international games across all formats.
