A trader leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district climbed and locked himself into a cage in a main market in Bannu to protest against runaway inflation and to shame the government and politicians for their apathy.
Dr Abdur Rauf Qureshi sat inside a cage at a busy road in Bannu city.
He said that the government has caged Pakistanis like him by increasing the prices of food. ‘The government and our rulers should be ashamed. They are the enemy of the people,’ Qureshi shouted.
“I am protestign the current rulers move to hide flour from people. Be it federal government or Punjab government. In entire of Sindh [and] Pakistan wheat is rottening lying in the fields. I have rebelled against this unfair inflation. [I am protesting against ] those who have imprisoned all the people of this country in a cage like this one,” Dr Rauf told Aaj News speaking from inside the cage.
He said there was a shortage of flour and edible oil in the country.
Rauf condemn politician who jump the ship from one political party to the other, changing loyality to serve their vested interests.
