An Islamabad court announced that criminal proceedings in Toshakhana case against Imran Khan are admissible.
Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal announced the decision reserved on December 12, saying that criminal proceedings against Imran Khan could go ahead.
The court has also summoned Imran Khan to appear in person on January 9.
Election Commission had disqualified Imran Khan from being a member of the legislature on October 21 in the Toshakhana case. It had also recommended criminal proceedings against Imran Khan.
The commission had said that Imran Khan and his wife had sold at least 58 gifts that he received as prime minister at a controlled rate. However, they had not been declared in his tax returns and information about the buyer had not been revealed either.
The commission had argued that in light of these revelations, Imran Khan is no longer ‘sadiq and ameen’.
The PTI counsel had argued that the case was being built on old tax declarations from 2018 and 2019 and therefore could not be carried through.
