NA speaker prorogues session to thwart PTI resignation plans

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf managed to deal with PTI’s resignation plan by proroguing the assembly session on Wednesday.

The PTI had decided that they would announce their resignation on the assembly floor. In their view, this would put an end to the speaker’s plan of avoid accepting the party’s resignations.

In response, the speaker prorogued the session so that the resignations would not be presented in the house either.

Till now, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has only accepted 11 resignations. Letters had been sent to members to come and verify their resignations individually, but none of them showed up.

The members who have resigned are no longer being paid their salaries, but some are occupying their residences in the Parliament Lodges.

When asked by Aaj News if the session had indeed been prorogued to thwart PTI’s resignation plans, the speaker replied that the matter of resignations would be seen to when the members decided to show up.
