My father was the first man to break my heart, says Mathira

TV host and model Mathira has said her dad was the first man to break her heart when she was young.

Mathira appeared on a podcast by Fareeha Altaf and said that she faced several betrayal over the course of her life, but never came to terms with the fact that her father let her down when she needed him the most.

She had to do many things on her own and faced many betrayals because there was no one to protect her as a father figure, she told Altaf.

Mathira grew up in Zimbabwe where her father had a business and was involved in politics. He died there recently, she said.

But when he separated from Mathira’s mother, the man left the country and went to London.

Her parents were poles apart with her father being a party-goer and the mother completely opposite, she said.

Mathira said her entry into the show business industry was not easy. She and her sister would often scan through loads of newspaper advertisements to seek work.

She also revealed one of her closely guarded secrets on the podcast: She became a mother at the age of 15.

She gave birth to a baby boy who proved a lucky charm for her, bringing with him work opportunities and wealth.
