KARACHI: Police is searching for two men in connection with the torture and alleged rape of an six-year-old girl in the jurisdiction of the Shah Latif police station, Karachi.
Initial reports suggested that the girl’s uncle, a drug addict, along with an accomplice raped and tortured the minor on Monday.
The girl’s fingers have been mutilated and she also has cuts on her neck and torso, said the mother.
Police have sent the girl for a medical test to ascertain whether she was raped.
Sindh Additional Inspector General Javed Alam Odho has sought a detailed report of the incident from DIG East Muqaddas Haider.
Dr. Summaiya Syed, Police Surgeon Karachi, said that initial findings were suggestive of chronic child abuse with sexual assault.
“She has been subjected to horrific sexual torture and physical mutilation and has undergone immense psychological trauma,” she said adding that referral pathways had been invoked.
Dr. Summaiya said that investigations were being done and treatment had been initiated.
“Samples have been collected for laboratory tests, including DNA.”
