SUKKUR: Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq on Tuesday condemned the postponement of local body elections in Karachi.
“I object to the decision of the Election Commission. The Sindh government believes that it can avoid defeat by postponing the local body elections,” he said while speaking to the media in Sukkur.
“The election commission came under the pressure of the provincial government and gave the decision,” he said and added that the by-elections were actually a contest between the federal and provincial governments.
“The results of the by-elections will not affect the general elections. People should trust Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming elections.”
