Players of the Urdu word game “Hijjay” are increasing rapidly, with its growing popularity not just in Pakistan but around the world.
“Hijjay”—a user friendly designed game that challenges users to make 20 words every day by joining letters making it a game of joy. This game is the product of Musharraf Ali Farooqi.
“I got the idea to design this game in 2014,” Farooqi told Aaj Digital, who launched it through his educational technology company ‘Story Kit’. “But, its initial phase took six years to complete and I am more hopeful than before for introducing this game on a mega level.”
The designer was of the view that the game was for every person who knows the basic words of Urdu and those who want to test their expertise. He added that users can continue the game and make more words after making the initial 20 words.
“At this level, this game becomes more interesting and difficult.”
A complete list of words made with the help of six letters could be seen at the end of the game.
Such a game helps in learning new words as the game is updated every morning at 5am. Moreover, players can also know the meaning of words by clicking on them during and after the game.
For now, the designers have used the online lughat of the Urdu dictionary for viewing the meaning of words. But, the team is designing such a dictionary that would be part of the game and the meanings could be seen on the screen.
“Players will see many changes in the game in the coming days. We will introduce an educational vision for the children in which words will appear as per the standard of their education,” he said.
The designer shared his plans to add more features to it, like the Urdu language’s unique ability to invent new words and assimilate them.
Educational institutions would be Farooqi’s next focus where the online game would play an “important role” increase vocabulary and interest in the language.
The game is right now only available on the website https://hijjay.com/. In the next stage, it would be available on the mobile application.
