Murder or suicide? Team formed to probe into teenage boy’s death

The Mardan-Nowshera GT Road was briefly shut on Saturday after the family of a teenage boy, who was found dead at a house where he worked, staged a sit-in on the road seeking the arrest of the culprits.

The deceased was identified as 13-year-old Amjad Khan s/o Rehmat Gul, police said. The family originally belonged to Diamer, however, they have been living in Kalan’s Dera Khel for some time.

The family called off their sit-in on assurances that the culprits would soon be arrested. But, the family said that it “would commit suicide by falling off the Kabul river if the culprits were not held after the sit-in”.

District Police Office Muhammad Khan has formed an investigation team under the supervision of Nowshera Kalan SHO Murad Khan to probe into the causes of the death.

Initial reports said that the boy had committed suicide whose body was found in the bathroom of the house. He has been working there for the last two years. But, the police after seeing the body said that it did not look like suicide, prompting the family to protest.

DPO Khan has called for the post-mortem of the body, which was found on Saturday at around 11am.

Police have claimed to arrest some suspects, including a servant.
