ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Miftah Ismail has been removed from the chairmanship of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) and the incumbent finance minister has become its new head, it emerged Tuesday.
Miftah in his capacity as finance minister became the ECNEC head. But after his stepping down from the post of finance minister, his successor Ishaq Dar has become the new chairman of the ECNEC.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reconstituted the ECNEC on Tuesday. The other members of the ECNEC included: Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Trade Minister Naveed Qamar, and Communication Minister Asad Mahmood.
Mohsin Leghari from Punjab, Nisar Khoro from Sindh, KP Finance Minister Saleem Taimoor Jhagra, and Balochistan senior member planning and development Noor Muhammad Domar have also become members of the ECNEC.
