KARACHI: Major General Azhar Waqas (Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military) has taken over as Director-General (DG) of Pakistan Rangers Sindh.
According to a spokesman for the Rangers, a ceremony was held at the Rangers headquarters in Karachi in which Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry handed over the command to Major General Azhar Waqas.
Prior to this Maj Gen Waqas was Director-General Military Intelligence (DGMI). He was conferred an Imtiazi Sanad in August. Before heading the MI, commanded the 40th Infantry Division in Okara as its general officer commanding or GoC.
Maj Gen Waqas joins at a time when street crime is on an uptick in Karachi and the floods have led to an influx of people in the cities.
