Here are the pictures of June’s strawberry Moon, which illuminated the night sky on Tuesday.
A Supermoon occurs when the Moon’s orbit is closest (perigee: the point in the orbit of the Moon, a planet or other object in space when it is nearest the plane around which it turns) to Earth at the same time the Moon is full, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa).
The Supermoon has many names. Nasa added that American astrologer Richard Nolle coined the term 'Supermoon' in 1979 which refers to either a new or full Moon that occurs when the Moon is within 90% of perigee.
