At least four security personnel lost their while over a dozen others have been injured in in an explosion in Balochistan's Sibi district on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, a loud explosion was heard around the Thandi Sarak nad Jail Road area of Sibi along with gunfire.
While the source of the explosion wasn't immediately clear with initial reports suggesting it was a remote-controlled detonation, sources within law enforcement claim that it was a suicide attack targeting a checkpost manned by law-enforcement personnel.
At least 5 of those injured are believed to be critical.
Security forces have cordoned off the area with forensic teams on the site of the explosion to collect evidence and ascertain the nature of the attack.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the blast and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to those injured in the explosion.
Balochistan has been rocked by a spate of terrorist attacks, including targeted attacks on security forces that left dozens of soldiers dead last month.
