Yesterday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw the highest number of new cases in almost six months.
The last time a bigger number of new cases was reported in the province was way back on 23rd June when 755 people were confirmed as Covid positive.
As of today, the total documented cases in the province has reached 52,092 and Coronavirus-related fatalities have reached 1,463. While 45,866 people who contracted the flu bug have recovered completely.
Of late, the viral disease is on the rise in the third most populous province of Pakistan. In the past week, 2,872 people have contracted novel coronavirus infection.
The alarming surge in the viral disease is compromising the provincial hospitals as they are reaching their full-capacity quickly. The provincial government has been pleading with the public to follow SOPs, avoid social gatherings, and go out only when it is necessary to curb the spread of the virus.
