Nowadays, the second wave of Covid-19 is dominating Pakistan. The number of new cases is rising day by day. In the last 24 hours, the highest single-day tally was reported in over five months as more than 3,700 people tested positive for the virus.
The recent surge in cases has resulted in a significant increase in the number of active coronavirus cases in Pakistan. Currently, the tally stands at 55,354. It's the highest tally since July-August. It's expected to increase considerably in the coming weeks as it will take several weeks to contain the second wave of Covid-19.
Pakistan reached its peak of active cases on July 1st when 108,100 people were battling the viral disease. It was the peak of the first wave in the country. Since then the tally started to decline significantly. So much so that it reached its lowest since April on 5,291 on September 10th. But after that, the second surge has resulted in a gradual rise in the number of active cases.
