5,860 new cases in the last 24 hours take Mexico's coronavirus tally past the one million mark to 1,003,253. Out of these at least 98,259 Mexicans have died due to coronavirus-related causes.
Mexico joins the US, India, Brazil, and seven other nations in recording over one million cases. Novel coronavirus has been dominating the whole world for almost a year now. There is no single continent that is not ravaged by the viral disease but the Americas have seen perhaps the most devastation due to COVID-19.
Both North and South American regions have documented millions of cases in just a few months. The United States leads the world in the number of coronavirus cases by a huge margin. Brazil is the second most affected American country, followed by Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. Peru is another country belonging to the continent of America that is approaching one million corona cases.
Countries from Asia and Europe also feature in the top 10 list of countries hit hardest by Covid.
