Three people were killed and 15 others received injuries in an explosion on first floor of a four-storey building at Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7.
According to details, three died and ten suffered injuries after an explosion took place in the upper portion of a multi-storey building at Maskan Chowrangi.
Reportedly, two floors of the building have completely been damaged.
Rescue and law enforcement agencies have reached the site to initiate relief operation.
Several people are still trapped in the building, rescue officials revealed.
Security forces have also cordoned off the area. Nature of the blast has not yet been ascertained.
Several eyewitnesses reported that windows of nearby buildings were also damaged.
On the other hand, IG Sindh Mushtaq Mahar has taken notice of the incident and has summoned report in this regard.
The police believe the blast occurred within Meezan Bank. There were 18 staff members in the bank at the time of the blast.
A security guard was killed in the blast and the marks on his body indicate that it was a gas blast, according to the initial report given to police officials.
The explosion was reported on the mezzanine floor of the four-storey Allah Noor Apartments in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The apartments are opposite the Karachi University gate. The ground and mezzanine floors both belong to Meezan Bank.
