KARACHI: A fire erupted on Thursday in the pipeline of a private company at the Keamari Oil Terminal in which some persons sustained burn wounds.
The incident took place near gate 1 of Kemari Oil terminal and the fire was erupted in petrol unit.
According to the official two people were burnt to death in the incident.
The nationwide supply of petroleum and oil products was also temporarily suspended and will be resumed by tomorrow.
"The main road, which is used to supply petroleum products across the country from Keamari, has been closed to extinguish the fire," said an official of a leading oil marketing company which has a storage facility nearby the location of the incident.
At least six truck drivers have received burn injuries in the incident, said the company official.
Fire tenders of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) carried out the rescue operation. Firefighting foam was used to extinguish the inferno which reduced the intensity of the blaze.
Pakistan Navy fire tenders also reached the spot to douse the fire and assist the rescue work, naval spokesperson confirmed. The operation was ongoing.
