Coronavirus cases exceed 10 million worldwide

Today, the number of novel coronavirus cases crossed 10 million mark worldwide.

The virus that was first reported in Wuhan, China in late December last year has ravaged the whole world for six months now. The new viral disease (COVID-19) spread quickly all over the globe and multiple countries were forced to shutdown to contain the virus.

COVID-19 has already caused around half a million deaths worldwide. Pneumonia-like illness causing virus is still rampant in most countries. The countries with most coronavirus cases are USA, Brazil and Russia.

While several countries are still grappling with the first wave of coronavirus, few countries like China, Italy, South Korea, and England etc. which had successfully flattened the curve and had come out of the first wave are reporting resurgence of virus in some cities thus indicating a second wave. So it's safe to say that we are nowhere near done with COVID-19 yet. Public health experts believe that the virus will be around for at least 2 years and the only way out of this is a COVID-19 vaccine which is all but a distant dream still.
