Coronavirus: Netflix overtakes Disney as streaming services

Netflix is today worth more than Disney, it comes as millions of viewers tune in to TV shows and films as they stay at home during the coronavirus crisis.

As per details, Netflix's market capitalization of $187.3billion has now overtaken rival Disney's $186.6bn, after the media conglomerate's stock finished down 2.5 percent. It seems Netflix has become one of the few companies on the planet making a profit off the coronavirus lead lockdowns with investors expecting Netflix to benefit from the crisis with millions of more people staying at home.

While Netflix does not reveal details about its viewing figures, the streaming firm has garnered praise for its wildly popular documentary series Tiger King.

It also offers reruns of classic shows such as Friends and The Office, which are reportedly among the platform’s most-viewed content.

Disney has also cashed in on the lockdown, with its recently-launched streaming service Disney Plus hitting 50m subscribers earlier this month.
